He wondered how long this secret had been kept from him.

Bryce stared at the little girl who clung to Seren’s leg. “Who’s dat, Mama?” she asked, big golden eyes staring back at him.

"No body, babyface. Go see Esther. She came back with sweeties from her trip." Seren smiled, a dazzling smile that Bryce missed seeing. The little girl ran off, her canter somewhat uneven.

After sometime of just studying Seren, Bryce spoke up. “….She’s beautiful,” he sounded breatless, pained. “She has your eyes.”

Seren frowned at him. “You need to leave before Rick comes back,” she adjusted her leather jacket some, crossing her arms and pushing her chest out. Bryce gave her a sad look.

"Her father?" he asked.

"No." Seren growled. "My Alpha. And Lyssa is my daughter. Mine."

"You can’t be happy with this life." he said, looking back up to meet her eyes. "Being his….his… Mistress!"

Seren glowered at him. “How was I supposed to live after what you and Rina did?”

"Rina is our Alpha." Bryce took a step up the wooden porch, but she immediately stepped back. Her golden eyes met his brown ones, anger mixed in with pain and fear.

“No.” Seren growled, her left hand reaching up and yanking her leather jacket down to show off her right shoulder. Her tank top shoulder her bare shoulder and part of her collar bone. “She is your alpha. And she did this to me when I was human.”

Scars decorated her arms, jagged and ranging in length and width. It was assumed the marks went under her clothes, to what degree no one knew.

"And you just stood there." Seren yanked the leather back onto her arms. "I begged you Bryce. I loved you. I trusted you. And you just stood there, and denied me the ability to protect myself."

Bryce remembered that night. He had brought her out on a date, and his Alpha had come to inspect the human that would, hopefully be his mate.

"Seren…. your family thinks your dead… Your mother—" Bryce tried to bargain with her. He tried to walk up again, but she went out to strike him. The man backed up, still in shock.

"You tell her." Seren snarled, her other self ready to surface."You tell her how my boyfriend, who wanted to marry me, let someone strip me naked, beat the shit out of me, took a knife and gouged my body to hell. You tell her, how her daughter begged you to change her into one of your kind, and then you tell her how you denied me that."

"Seren you’re my soulmate." he said, almost timidly.

"Come back to me when you reincarnate into something that isn’t a bastard." Seren snarled. "If you’ll excuse me, Madam Alpha needs me in the kitchen. You should leave."

Bryce stood there on the stone and cement sidewalk in front of the grand house in the compound. He had met the Alpha of this area, and it infuriated him this was how Seren chose to live. How could Seren live like this and bring her daughter into this pack. He gripped the car keys in his hand, turning on his heal.

Had she given him five minutes, she would have been told he was the new Alpha of his own pack. That Rina had left the country, settling down with her own mate. Bryce rubbed his brow, pissed off.

From the window he saw two large golden eyes, peaking at him behind a curtain of wild ebony curls. He waved back at the little girl, a pain in his heart.

"Damnit Seren."
writing prompt 4: He wondered how long this secret had been kept from him.
Bryce and his exfiancee/mate argue over her living situation. Seren wants nothing to do with the male since their last fall out where she was horribly marred by his Alpha.
