She froze with the wine glass an inch from her mouth, her gaze focused on the sheet of paper he’d just handed her.

"I decline." she growled, her brown eyes scanning him. "Now please leave Levi."

The woman was petite in stature, and had midnight hair with eyes that matched. Her skin was a warm cocoa color, her throat, cleavage, shoulder blades and much of her shoulders exposed by the dress she wore. The man sitting across from her at the dinner table was fit, tall, and built like a bear. His face bronzed slightly by su, his brown hair neatly trimmed, combed and gelled into place. His suit looked nice on him, and had to be let out due to his height and his muscled form.

Levi swallowed the lump in his throat. “Margot. Please. Just hear me out.”

He slid the paper across the table at him. “Just… Read it.”

Margot looked at the paper, putting the glass down carefully. She read the paper, a formal apology from Levi’s Alpha for the disturbance caused at the banquet. Her hard gaze softened and she sighed. One of the hosts came by to escort Levi out, but Margot raised her hand and waved her away.

"Is he disturbing you Misses Nakamura?" the host stressed her title.

Levi irked a bit, tugging to loosen his tie some.

"Thankyou, Erik, but we’re fine." she reread the letter, then tapped her glass absently. "Bring my guest his own glass."

The host nodded, then stepped back from her table. He spoke to a waiter and what she wanted was done.

"Your husband he… I…" Levi struggled to find words for his behavior. He had been a fool last night. Thinking that it mattered how they connected, the spark he felt, her scent, how his heart rattled against his ribcage for her…

"Is nonexistent," she smiled, "It’s merely for my boss’ benefit. He’s not quite ready to get married, so I pose as his wife from time to time." She folded up the letter and tucked it into her clutch.

"Oh." Levi grinned, feeling elated. Margot blinked a few times, then laughed. "Wh-what is it?"

"For such a big man, you sure are jittery." Margot looked at her wrist watch. His grin waned some.

Her phone beeped, and she looked at her purse. Usually she never answered calls when she was out, but one look at the device had her frowning. She checked the text message, then let out a snort.

"You conniving little minx." she shook her head, tucking her phone away. MArgot rubbed her temples, then finally took Levi’s attire in. "You dressed up… just to deliver a message to me?"

The large man blushed some, looking away from her gaze. “I assumed they wouldn’t let me in if I didn’t dress the part,” he nodded, “Wouldn’t want to embarrass you, Mrs. Nakamura.”

Margot smiled once again, showing off her fangs. “…for a werewolf… you’re quite considerate.” she said softly. She motioned to the menu on the table. “Stay. My appointment cancelled on me last minute.”

Levi looked at the menu, eyes bulging some.

"Is it true?" he asked softly. Margot smiled, sipping what was left of her wine.

"Is what true?" she asked back, her tone soft. She needed him to actually say it. To realize why it would never work between him and her. That nothing good could come from them.

"What they say?" he felt awkward.

"Clarify?" she giggled a bit.

"Food." he motioned to the menu. "Why would you pay…32 dollars for a steak… if you can’t taste it?"

Margot shrugged. “Nostalgia.” she motioned to the water and the wine. “Even if I everything tastes like dirt… I still like going through the motions.”

There was a look of pity that crossed his eyes. Margot shook her head. “Don’t look at me like that.”

"And what about blood?" he seemed uncomfortable.

"Life water." she grinned, showing off her fangs again. "That’s completely true."

Margot was gunning that his look of pity would turn to disgust. That he would come out of this goddamn reverie mistake that they were meant to be. He was someone else’s prince.

The look on his face was not pity, nor was it disgust. It was fear and curiousity.

"Have you ever drunk a wolf’s blood?" Levi asked.

Her face burned. The waiter came by, noticing the odd atmosphere. She waved her hand, ordering. Levi followed suit. He perked a brow then grinned a bit.

"You don’t drink from living donors." Levi chuckled.

Margot blushed forward and he grinned. He never knew a vampire could blush. He was chipping away at her cool demeanor so easily.

"I guess… this counts as our first date." Levi grinned.

"You are so bothersome." she huffed.
